Description
RISD press was a student newspaper published weekly in the early 1970s, a self-described attempt at consolidating all the information outlets of the school, including the previous student newspaper, Montage. The issue of July 1, 1977 is a special summer issue apparently prompted by conflicts between the RISD press board and the RISD administration. It includes editorials and articles on the cause of this conflict and the importance of a weekly newspaper at RISD. The issue also highlights ongoing problems with the RISD administration, including student organization against proposed policies, the development of a faculty handbook, a report from the Committee on Faculty Governance, a lawsuit brought against RISD by Architecture students, and the controversial replacement of the Architecture division chairman.
