The RISD Rag was a student publication released in the spring of 1972, first on a monthly basis and later on a bi-weekly basis. The issue of May 1, 1972 includes articles on a faculty conference on the educational objectives of RISD, a proposal for a RISD "index," complaints about the RISD Museum, international study, a hotline for women who have been assaulted, a Board of Trustees meeting, student activism in Washington DC, and cholera fears in Bangladesh. It also features a review of a student theater performance of "Vatzlav" and a comic on life at RISD title "Why Not Call It Quits?" by Steve Waugh.

The RISD Rag was a student publication released in the spring of 1972, first on a monthly basis and later on a bi-weekly basis. The issue of January 1972 included an article about the local food co-ops, and the lack of diversity in the RISD faculty and at the RISD Museum. Support was wanted for farm workers and there was an appeal for a sick child. Voter registration information was listed for each state and parking ticket information for Providence was provided. Recipes, an art exhibit review, the Franklin Mint Bicentennial Medal Design contest and comics were also in this issue.

The Free RISD! Newspaper was a community-created newspaper meant to take the place of the RISD Extra, a newspaper that itself was published sometime in the late '60s or early '70s, no issues of which exist today. A single issue of the Free RISD! Newspaper is held by the archives; it covers the end of Extra, issues of separation between the RISD museum and its student body, issues of feminism, letters to the editor, a calendar of events, and some advertisements. The issue of March 23, 1970 included some articles about student activism. RISD students demanded an increase in scholarships and a tuition freeze for four years. There was information about the members of the board of trustees. There was a plea to offer 30 full scholarships to needy students from Rhode Island.

The issue of May 19-25, 1969 featured an article about the RISD Landscape Architecture department's study to save Block Island, RI. There also was an interview with John Torres about summer programs at RISD and at a school in Vermont, and an article about a RISD photo student who taught local pre-teens about photography. Also included was an article about the Rhode Island Art Festival and some RISD students who were volunteering their time to help.

The Designer was a student newspaper published in 1942. Three issues remain today. The first two issues are written by typewriter on loose sheaves of paper. The issue of May 12-18, 1969 included articles about Apparel Design's annual show Collection 1969, and an article about Man and his Technology, a seminar that was attended by 250 people. There was a brief article about racial troubles at Hope High School in Providence that was from a publication called EXTRA. Comics, ads, letters and art exhibits were also mentioned.

This may be the final issue of Blockprint ever printed.
