Mixed Media began as the student publication Your Name Here. The May 12, 1997 issue includes articles on nature for the art of culture; a staff appreciation day; promotion of a RISD-hosted film, video, and animation festival; environmentalism; along with the comic "Soft Core" by Jessie Wiens, event notices, and other announcements.
