Interview of Virginia Lynch conducted by Ann Hudner from the President's home in Providence, RI on April 18, 2000. Lynch speaks of first becomming involved with the Board of Trustees at RISD and what it was like to work with President Lee Hall. Lynch also recalls professors she worked with or professors who have shown at the Virginia Lynch Gallery along with her appreciation for the RISD Museum. Along with this, Lynch discusses the newly created Virginia Lynch Endowed Minority Scholarship.

Biographical/Historical Note

Virginia Lynch (1915-2007) was a gallery owner and trustee at the Rhode Island School of Design. She established the Lynch Gallery in 1985 and was elected a Trustee of the Rhode Island School of Design between 1978-1987 before being re-appointed between 1988-1998 as an honorary trustee. Lynch exhibited the work of numerous Rhode Island artists, including RISD faculty and alumni such as Dale Chihuly, Harry Callahan, and Gretchen Dow Simpson. She also established a series of scholarships for students at RISD.

Lynch is interviewed by Ann Hudner, director of Public Relations at RISD from 1994-2007. The interview takes place on April 18, 2000. Directed by Frank Muhly.
