Interview of Warren Luther conducted by Neil Severance from the Ewing Center in Providence, RI on June 30, 1999. Luther speaks of being a chairman of the Architecture department at RISD and the many decisions he made about course structure, such as the creation of Wintersession. Luther also recalls different guest speakers he invited to his classes and the other RISD professors he interacted with. Along with this, Luther discusses the different presidents he worked with, including Albert Bush-Brown and John Frazier.
Biographical/Historical Note
Professor Emeritus Warren Luther graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1948 with degrees in Industrial Arts Education and Architecture. He taught at RISD in the departments of Architecture and Foundation Studies from 1950-1990.
Luther is interviewed by Neil Severance, Vice President of Student Affairs at RISD from 1979-2000. The interview takes place on June 30, 1999. In the interview, Luther discusses his training and professional career development, including his years at RISD. Directed by Frank Muhly. Produced by Peter O'Neill and Andrew Martinez.
