Kremer Pigments
Kremer Pigmente began with the manufacturing of historic pigments in 1977. Since then, the company has added a variety of historic, modern, and synthetic pigments, as well as a large number of natural dyes and vegetable color paints.
The Kremer Pigment Collection at RISD was purchased by the Painting Department under RISD Painting Critic William Miller's leadership and organization. Prior to acquisition by the Color Lab, it was a visual and material resource for students and faculty in the Painting Department. Bill worked with Kremer to build the collection, sourced display jars, and worked with students to label and dispense each pigment into its container. RISD Facilities designed and built the display shelving. The non-circulating collection now resides in the Fleet Library Visual + Material Resource Center.
