Description
As we now enter into our second year of the COVD-19 pandemic, educational institutions continue to pivot and reevaluate best practices for students. At art and design schools such as RISD, the challenge for remote learning is intensified in an environment so connected to materiality, studio spaces, and in-person resources for its makers and designers.
Coupled with the Black Lives Matter movement and the 2020 US election, the pandemic has formulated radical opportunities for consciousness and scholarship. Recognizing that these challenges are unique for each individual, we asked members of several offices across campus to reflect on what 'pivoting' has meant in their work this past year amidst the multiple complexities and motivations within our RISD community.
