Mobilization of living plants led by Peruvian artist and RISD alumni Lucia Monge proceeding from Roger Williams National Memorial, N. Main St., Providence RI.
'Plantón' is the word in Spanish for a sapling. It is also the word for a sit-in. This project takes on both: the green to be planted and the peaceful protest. This project is about giving the plants and trees the opportunity to walk down the streets of their city, like a small forest peacefully reclaiming its place and respect. Plantón Móvil is a simple yet powerful gesture meant to heighten awareness of a beautiful and essential form of life that many people take for granted. It emphasizes our relationship as humans to the rest of the living, breathing planet. - Lucia Monge
