[recto:] A Happy Christmastide [verso:] Come old King Christmas with your ruddy face / Come with your crown of mistletoe and holly / to all the winds scatter all melancholy / And of all sorrow banish every trace! / Take at our hearts your old accustomed place / Open your generous heart and let us enter! / Fill up a flowing bowl from Love's decanter / And drink "good health to all the human race, / But jolly King, to those to me most dear / be very pleasant; sing your merriest measures! / Dance on your old toes, like a sportive deer! / And from your pockets empty all your treasures / To their fond hearts let them for joy enfold you / And bless them all and tell them that I told you! / Frederick Langbridge
