Four panelists participated in Critical Dialogue: Panel + Artist Talks, a January 22, 2015 event sponsored by RISD’s Mapping Identities Initiative, the Office of Intercultural Student Engagement (ISE), and Graduate Studies. The wide-ranging discussion was meant to foster a deeper understanding of the racially-charged work presented in Kindred, which just completed its almost two-month run on Sunday.
At one point during the evening, a small group of students with work in Kindred took to the stage. Each artist spoke about his or her creative process and cultural and personal identity–and also addressed some of the challenges of being a person of color on campus.
