Description

"Parade" was made for the inauguration of Rosanne Somerson the 17th president of the Rhode Island School of Design. This work is site specific and is intended to be displayed on an 18 x 35 foot screen hung 25 feet above the South Main Street in Providence, RI USA. Traffic and pedestrians will be able to perambulate under the canopy screen. The screen is oriented flat to the surface of the street and the onlookers will be up-lookers. The notion of parade has many connotations, here I see a sequence of actions similar to a sequence of bands, cowboy clowns, floats, balloons.... the essence of what might make people happy and exhibit what might be best about what they are. Have fun... it is a celebration. sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
