Abstract

For her ACP project, Sophia Sobers, graduate fellow (MFA, D+M, 2013), studied the influence and application of science-driven and science-inspired work among RISD undergraduates. Surveying the ways in which students use science within their studio practice—as a topic or a tool, an inspiration or a counterpoint—and placing it in the context of science-influenced contemporary art and design, she curated an exhibition and led a panel discussion to initiate dialogue and suggest possibilities for developing new academic opportunities for integrating art, design, and science.
