This exhibit encompasses works that play with the ideas of paradoxes, perception and the relationship between visual and mental experiences through the use of visuals that invoke feelings, fixations, sensations and create or tickle existing thought processes. The works aim to disrupt the real, create the surreal and instill powerful impressions upon the viewer.
Where the real world changes into simple images, the simple images become real beings and effective motivations of hypnotic behavior... - Guy Debord
The pieces exhibited utilize various means to visually affect the viewer; some are explosive, some are not, and some gently appeal to the subconscious. The visual impacts aim to affect the viewer on different levels of consciousness, leaving the mind with playful impressions.
This exhibit aims to address the following question: when does what you see become reality and what is the final arbiter of truth - the mind or the eye?
