Description
Testing Grounds showcases work from the 2024 Wintersession course "Ceramic Sculpture" taught by artist and faculty member Chenlu Hou. Experimentation with different combinations of clay bodies, glazes, underglazes and glazing techniques underscored the importance of form and color as conveyors of meaning. Recruiting clay bodies in terracotta and stoneware, students pushed and played with different colors and embraced the shifts and accidents that occur through the firing processes - aiming for one result, and ultimately accepting the whims of the kiln.
