Student Narrative
This book depicts the narrative of 2020 through nostalgic children's book imagery. Instead of familiar, brightly-colored illustrations, these drawings are in graphite, tones of dark grey that can easily be smudged and transferred, both literally and metaphorically. The bitter-sweet memories of childhood intertwine with the painful memories of this past year. But as depressing as this book and 2020 has been, there is a sliver of hope -- that there is a new kingdom to come. This is a 22"x15" hand-bound book (dimensions when book isn't opened). This particular assignment was focused on appropriating art. Although the images reference children's book imagery, all pictures are hand-drawn and recontextualized in a completely original manner.
