In 2021 Marion J. Kearns and her sister Dorothy L. Carrier donated a collection of drawings by their grandfather Harry A. Samoore, a RISD evening student, 1896/7-1901, and a Brown & Sharpe employee. The drawings appear to be from Modeling and Casts classes in the Freehand Drawing and Painting department. The collection includes twenty nine 19"X25" and thirty two 19"X13" sketches as well one photograph of Samoore, July 4, 1900 and a photograph of the Brown & Sharpe apprentice class, October 8, 1897. All drawings are housed in RISD Archives.
Harry A. Samoore (Harootyoun Avedis Samoorian), an Armenian immigrant, was born March 5, 1880 in Harpoot, Turkey. He arrived in New York City July 25, 1890 and attended RISD 1896/7 - 1901. Harry married Nettie Mansur December 25, 1906 in Weston, VT. He was naturalized October 6, 1911, and was the owner of Samoore's Variety Store, 1117 Elmwood Ave, Providence. d. November 4, 1946 in Providence, RI.
