Interview of Timothy McFate conducted by Andrew Martinez on Zoom from McFate's private residence on February 21, 2021. McFate speaks of how he first became a chef for RISD Dining + Catering and how his position changed over the 38 years he worked there. McFate also recalls teaching for the Culinary Arts program at RISD with Al Falk and teaching in Continuing Education. Along with this, McFate discusses his retirement during the COVID-19 pandemic and his interests outside of RISD, including painting and music.
Biographical/Historical Note
Tim McFate recently retired from his position as site manager and chef for RISD’s Dining and Catering Services. He received a certificate in Commercial Photography from the Ray Vogue School of Photography in 1975 and a certificate in Computer Graphics at RISD in 1995, working as a songwriter, painter, photographer, and writer.
McFate is interviewed by Andrew Martinez, a RISD archivist, on February 21, 2021. In the interview, McFate discusses his 37 years at RISD upon the occasion of his retirement.
