On view in the Fleet Library at RISD, 2nd Floor, May 8 - June 30, 2026. LPs ‘covered’ by artists is an exhibition spanning the early years of 12 inch 33 1/3 RPM records first issued by Columbia Records in 1949 up to the rebirth of record albums released in the 21st century. Curated by Robert Garzillo.
Artists represented in the exhibition include Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Sol LeWitt, Gray Foy, Andy Warhol, Bridget Riley, Marisol, Ed Ruscha, Antonio Frasconi, Josef Albers, Rockwell Kent, Jim Dine, Robert Longo, and Julie Mehretu.
The exhibition is accompanied by a selection of library books that document the artists and some of the featured artworks.
