Description
Spectrum was a publication released in the early 1950s by the undergraduate students at Rhode Island School of Design. This issue from May 1956 features essays written by professional photographers on the theme of "photography as a visual art form." Guest essayists include Lyle Mayer, Beaumont Newhall, Jacob Deschin, Barbara Morgan, and Aaron Siskind. Two RISD students, Emilio Grossi and Ronald Binks also contribute. This issue additionally includes photographic plates by Lyle Mayer, Ronald Binks, Aaron Siskind, Howard Dearstyne, Emilio Grossi, Edward Weston, and Minor White.
