Mixed Media began as the student publication Your Name Here. The March 31, 1997 issue includes articles on the faculty rejection of a mandatory summer internship, sexual harassment at RISD, RISD Film Society screenings, a queer arts festival at RISD, the lack of diversity among faculty, Liberal Arts registration issues, a new student organization dedicated to searching for the truth, environmentalism at RISD, and complaints about the Metcalf Refectory, along with the comic "Miko" by Royce Wesley, cartoons by Fran Krause, event notices, and other announcements.
