Description
RISD press was a student newspaper published weekly in the early 1970s, a self-described attempt at consolidating all the information outlets of the school, including the previous student newspaper, Montage. The issue of January 24, 1977 is a special edition advocating for the reversal of RISD's decision not to renew the contract of film department instructor Marian Marzynski. Students had previously submitted letters to the editor and engaged in other advocacy on Marzynski's behalf. This issue contains documentation on Marzynski's contributions to RISD, along with letters of support from faculty, and interviews and documentation from Marzynski's detractors, including Provost Jack Stewart and Division of Design head Tom Sgouros. An interview with RISD President Lee Hall is also included.
