Abstract

This thesis investigates the hydro-social entanglements between water, people, and architecture—reframing built form as an active participant in the negotiation of ecological flows and social life. Positioned within landscapes marked by the infrastructural neglect of water, the project explores how architecture can act as a hydro-social mediator—gathering, filtering, storing, and distributing not just water, but also cultural memory, communal rituals, and environmental knowledge. Through the symbolic and spatial construct of The Leaky Vessel, the thesis proposes a civic architecture rooted in indigenous water practices, seasonal rhythms, and collective care—where design becomes a vessel for both sustenance and transformation.
