Abstract

By now we all know that the internet is an integral part of our existence. One could argue that this online existence holds equal importance to our physical one. While the lines blur even further and Mark Zuckerberg can’t wait to cosplay the rich computer guy from Ready Player One, I choose to refrain from the existential dread that seems to be inescapable when thinking of the future nowadays. While we often associate the internet with portals (after all, we once called websites “Internet Portals”—in German at least), Wormholes more accurately capture the experience. Portals promise instant connection. But what do we do when these connections get disturbed, when the desired outcome does not transpire?
/="/">/="/"> Wormholes imply a journey, one that allows for straying off the intended path, creating potential for divergence and reinvention. They exist as theory, fantasy, or proposition. An imagined space where paths are not always linear and realities alter. They are about the “in-between,” the moment of transition, the potential to redefine reality. We enter and exit spaces daily, in constant motion, always interconnected. My work investigates these wormholes through visual and digital projects, blending physical and digital elements to reflect the tension between reality and representation.
/="/">/="/"> I explore the potential of Wormholing not just as a metaphor, but also as a methodology to create engaging and thought-provoking experiences. I invite audiences to playfully navigate the absurdity and complexity of these transitional spaces, as sometimes it feels more beneficial to lean into the delusional and the hedonistic as a form of coping. Oooooooooorrr is it?
